Introducing children to their first Christmas movies is exciting. We own the following movies and watch them every year during the holiday season. My 6 year old loved all of these films as a preschooler and still watches many of them today. This year my toddler will see a few of these for the first time. I hope you and your little ones get some new favorites from our list. Enjoy!
This movie always puts us in the holiday spirit. Caillou is super excited about Christmas. Through storytelling and some catchy songs his parents teach him how Christmas is celebrated throughout the world. I actually learned a few things myself.
Warning: the theme song of this movie is VERY catchy. After your child watches it over and over during the holiday season don’t be surprised if you find yourself singing it in the middle of July. Seriously, it happened to me. Minty is an adorable pony who aims to restore Christmas on a journey to see Santa. It’s heartwarming and sweet. If your child is a My Little Pony fan, this is a must see.
My eldest went through a big Cat in the Hat phase as a preschooler so when this movie was released we had to buy it. Nick, Sally, Cat and Fish are in full holiday mode and on another adventure. This time they are helping the cutest baby reindeer reunite with his family. Yes, it will give you all the feels.
Curious George and The Man in the Yellow Hat are on a quest to find each other the perfect gift. Lots of music with all the regular characters singing. Who knew The Man in the Yellow Hat had such a nice voice? This is a newer family favorite.
Ok, so this one is not a movie. But my kids simply love Peppa the Pig. I haven’t found a full Christmas movie for Peppa yet but there is this funny short. (Note, the rest of the included shorts are not Christmas related). Peppa’s family is up to their usual shtick as the kids mail letters to Santa and the family shops for a tree. The family is hilarious as always.
What are your favorite holiday movies for your little ones?
